چکیده

We studied in this work a modified version of the Ziff, Gulari and Barshad (ZGB) model in which the adsorption probabilities of CO and O 2 are site dependent. We employed Monte Carlo simulations to determine the phase diagram of the model as a function of the partial pressure of CO in the gaseous phase, and of the relative adsorption probabilities. For the case where there is no site with affinity only to O 2 adsorption, we found that the non physical O-poisoned state disappears. This feature can not be seen in the usual ZGB model.

ZGB surface reaction model with high diffusion rates

The diffusionless ZGB (monomer–dimer) surface reaction model exhibits a discontinuous transition to a monomer‐poisoned state when the fraction of monomer adsorption attempts exceeds 0.525. It has been claimed that this transition shifts to 2/3 with introduction of rapid diffusion of the monomerspecies, or of both species. We show this is not the case, 2/3 representing the spinodal rather than t...

A Study on the Adsorption and Catalytic Oxidation of Asphaltene onto Nanoparticles

The use of nanoparticles, including metal oxide surfaces, as asphaltene adsorbents is a potential method of removing and/or upgrading asphaltenes. The adsorption of two asphaltene types, extracted from two types of Iranian crude oil, onto nanoparticles (TiO2, SiO2, and Al2O3) are assessed and the thermal behavior of the adsorbed asphaltenes is examined under an oxidizing atmosphere through ther...

Photo catalytic removal of Toluene vapor from air in the Adsorption-Photo catalytic bed

Background and aims: Clean air is one of the most important components of health and sustainable development. Every person breathes about 10 kg of air per day and if it contains pollutants, it will have a serious impact on their health. Indoor air quality (IAQ) is one of the major health issues that have been addressed in recent years with changes in lifestyle patterns. Usually, due to the incr...

Experimental and kinetic study of sulfur dioxide adsorption reaction generated from jet fuel combustion by sodium carbonate sorbent using the random pore model

Background and Objectives: SO2 pollution has become a serious concern. The aim of this study is SO2 removal from JP-4 fuel combustion. Materials and Methods: Experiments were performed by thermogravimetric analysis at different temperatures and various SO2 concentration. Kinetic study of non-catalytic gas-solid reaction was performed using mathematical modeling based on random pore model. Res...

Boundary effects in a surface reaction model for CO oxidation

The surface reaction model of Ziff, Gulari, and Barshad (ZGB) is investigated on finite systems with “hard” oxygen boundary conditions. The rate of production of CO2 is calculated as a function of y and system size. When the rate of CO adsorption y is above the firstorder transition value y,, the reactive region is found to extend into the system a distance 6 which scales as (y-yz) -o.4o when y...
